This might seen unrelated but I just can't seem to find the pricing options for advertising on your site. How much do you charge per month?

Thanks for your comment, Amanda. The beauty of a fan page is you don't need to attach a person's name to it (as you do with a group page).

The first thing I would do is correct the link on your Wachusett homepage to direct visitors straight to your fan page. Then I would create a notice on the profile saying that it will be phased out soon and encourage everyone to migrate to the fan page. Of course, you're going to have few people resist the change because many don't understand the differences between a profile and a fan page and do not realize a personal profile for a business is going against Facebook's design and might be deleted. You have to do what makes the most sense for your business and ultimately your customers.

You don't have to delete the personal profile for Wachusett Mountain, but you don't have to maintain it either. It really comes down to time management. The best PR and marketing results come from business owners who are engaged with their audience. If you're dividing your attention between two different profiles, your time and ability to properly pay attention to your customers is diminished.

The fan page is designed for businesses and will more features and applications will be added in the future which may help you connect with people in new ways. Plus you will be able to monitor the activity more effectively on the fan page, seeing what campaigns work and which do not.

Bottom line: get your Web traffic to go to the fan page. Try to convert as many of the friends as possible into fans. Then begin to reduce the activity on the profile page and start putting all your energy and attention onto the fan page. But as long as you keep the profile page up, you're going to have to check in on it (daily) to make sure it's not being abused.

Hope this helps.

Hi Robert,
Thanks for sending this to me. I appreciate any feedback. For us, it has become a slippery slope, we started by creating a "profile" so we could create the "fan page" we created the "profile" so the fan page wouldn't be linked directly to my personal facebook or anything like that. Now the profile page is growing exponentially- we literally have 25+ "friend" requests a day. I try to post "Hey friends become a fan" frequently. I am scared to let go of the profile... what should I do, just bite the bullet???
